FAQ
Most frequent questions about Raw and Living Food
“Raw Food” means food that is unprocessed, unrefined and untreated with heat; Food that is in its natural whole state. The three main raw food groups are fresh fruits, vegetables and natural fats such as avocados, nuts and seeds. Raw food is not a new concept. Most nutritionists agree that we need to eat more fresh fruit and vegetables. “Living Food” is food that contains enzymes. Enzymes assist in the digestion of food. They are known to be the energy of the food. Meal preparation from “The Raw and Living Food Approach” simply suggests that these foods should be most of what we eat, and should be prepared in a way that maximizes their nutrient content.
Eating “Raw and Living Food” does not have to be all or nothing. Very few people eat 100% raw; it does not appear to be practical for most of us. Eating 50-75% can have enormous benefits. The main point is to increase the percentage of fresh fruits and vegetables to your meal plan.
There are many benefits to eating Raw and Living Foods:
- Eating a high volume of fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds is one of the easiest ways to keep nutrients flowing through the body.
- “Raw and Living Food” is also known to be rich in vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, enzymes and fiber.
- “Raw and Living Food” is easier to digest, therefore your body is able to absorb more of the nutrients.
The only items you need are:
- a knife
- cutting board
- strainer
- and a blender
Please note that they do not have to be expensive. Once your creative culinary skills come to play, you may eventually want to purchase a food processor and a spiral slicer.
To start, you should stock your refrigerator with these few basic items: almonds, sunflower seeds, lemons, tomatoes, cucumbers, celery, green leafy vegetables and fresh fruit.
With simple recipes and a little planning, “Raw and Living Food” meal preparation can be less expensive than the average diet.
